Mandatory Credit: Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports With his major-league-leading 34th home run on Saturday, Aaron Judge set a New York Yankees record for homers before the All-Star break.
In New York's 6-1 win over the host Baltimore Orioles, Judge broke the mark he shared with Roger Maris, who hit 33 before the break en route to a then-single-season record of 61.
Judge eclipsed Maris with 62 homers in 2022, setting the new American League record.
The Yankees slugger's 34 homers are the most by any major leaguer before the break since the Orioles' Chris Davis hit 37 in 2013. Barry Bonds holds the record with 39 in 2001 for the San Francisco Giants.
Facing Orioles starter Grayson Rodriguez in the fifth inning on Saturday, Judge launched a 431-foot blast. It came just after Juan Soto's 426-foot shot and provided the Yankees with a 6-1 lead.
